Pico do Fogo pronounced is the highest peak of Cape Verde, rising to 2,829 metres above sea level. It is an active stratovolcano lying on the island of Fogo. Fogo is a hotspot volcanic island. Its most recent eruptions have occurred in 1951, 1995 and 2014.
